Pre-War Sports Cars

Motor Racing Legends’ longest-running race series; the Pre-War Sports Car Series is for all sports cars built before 1941.

Cars must be close to original production specification; run in ‘road-going’ trim, with wings and lights; and run on ordinary pump fuel. Some degree of modification is permitted, and Specials will be accepted only at the specific invitation of Motor Racing Legends. All the famous pre-War marques are represented: Alfa Romeo, Alvis, Aston Martin, Bentley, Bugatti, Frazer Nash, Lagonda, MG, Riley, Talbot and a host of other marques.

The Pre-War Sports Car Series races are usually 40 minutes long, with compulsory pit stop and optional driver change. Two-driver entries are always encouraged, but certainly not mandatory.

The first big event of the year is traditionally the famous ‘Mad Jack’ race held at Donington Historic Festival. Named in honour of Richard ‘ Mad Jack’ Shuttleworth winner of the first ever Donington Grand Prix in 1935.  Sadly due to the COVID-19 situation, this year’s Donington event has been cancelled until 2021. Bi-annually Pre-War Sports Cars enjoy a race at the Silverstone Classic and we look forward to announcing plans for a 2021 return.

An additional race has been scheduled at Thruxton Historic on 15-16 August and we are pleased to have received a strong entry.  We return in September to the Spa Six Hours Meeting at the fabulous Ardennes circuit. If you are a pre-war racer this is a real ‘bucket list’ opportunity not to be missed.  The season will conclude at the Algarve Classic Festival at Portimao circuit in Portugal – a rare opportunity to enjoy a end of year race in the sunshine, months after the domestic season concluded.  2020 could prove to be a memorable year (even after the slow start!) if you are a Pre-War racer.
