First announced in 2009 as a special one-off race for Pre ’63 GT cars at the Silverstone Classic, the popularity of the formula became immediately apparent, with entries from all over Europe and beyond. Now a well-established series; managed by Motor Racing Legends; and where entry is approved and overseen by a selection committee within the Royal Automobile Club; the Series brings a definite touch of glamour to the race tracks.
All races typically run for one hour and are open to two-driver entries and, as part of the Series, the Royal Automobile Club presents their Historic Tourist Trophy to the winner of the Pre ’63 GT race at the Silverstone Classic each year.
The Pre ’63 GT Series will return to the track in 2024. In the meantime, there are also classes for Pre ’63 GT cars within the three-hour Royal Automobile Club Pall Mall Cup races at Donington Historic Festival and at the MRL Silverstone Grand Prix Meeting in October, and for pre-’63 E-types within the Jaguar Classic Challenge.
