Historic Touring Car Challenge with Tony Dron Trophy

Sponsored by

The Historic Touring Car Challenge (HTCC) with Tony Dron Trophy for Touring Cars which raced in the British and European Touring Car Championships through the 1970s and ’80s

The HTCC is for Group A cars up to 1990, Group 2 cars up to 1981 and Group 5 cars up to 1969. The series now covers everything from Ford ‘Cologne’ Capris and ‘Batmobile’ BMWs, through SD1 Rovers and Jaguar XJSs, to BMW M3s and Ford Sierra RS500s.

The Tony Dron Trophy is a stand-alone series for Group 1 and ‘1½’ Touring Cars. This race series runs within the Historic Touring Car Challenge grid, with its own podium and results for each race. Named in honour of the ‘70s Touring Car ace and Le Mans sports car driver Tony Dron – the series is for Touring Cars running to FIA Group 1 regulations or to British Saloon Car Championship Group 1½ regulations between 1970 and 1981.

Races are typically between 40 and 60 minutes long, for two drivers with a compulsory pit stop. As with all Motor Racing Legends’ series the races are for real race cars from the era, running to correct period specification.

The positive response to the late addition of a race to the Spa Six Hours programme has seen us confirm two double-header races for the 2022 Belgium event already.
