The Ultimate Challenge for Pre-War Racers
The Pre-War Sports Cars kick started Motor Racing Legend’s journey into the world of motor sport when we pioneered, many years ago, the opportunity for long distance, two driver races for these cars at some of the best circuits around the UK and Europe. Attracting a variety of high-calibre cars with notable histories, this longer racing format perfectly complements the sporting abilities of these historic machines.
As a result, our Pre-War Sports Car series commands great respect, with competitors guaranteed an unrivalled experience from start to finish. The 2021 season will be no exception, with three high profile events in the calendar: Donington Historic Festival, The Classic at Silverstone and the infamously fabulous Spa Six Hours in Belgium.
In only a few weeks’ time, Pre-War cars will line up at the only active circuit in the UK with pre-war history, Donington Park, for the ‘Mad Jack’ race, celebrating Richard ‘Mad Jack’ Shuttleworth’s victory at Donington in 1935 at the wheel of an Alfa Romeo P3. There’s no finer a circuit to enjoy a Pre-War race with its sweeping corners and undulations.
The Donington Historic Festival will be run over just two days this year, in light of current restrictions, and we have deliberately scheduled both qualifying and racing for the Pre-War grid to take place on the Sunday, May 2nd, to reduce the need for overnight accommodation. Self-catered accommodation and motorhomes are permitted, and we now understand that local hotels are also accepting bookings from drivers. The meeting will also feature the traditional Motor Racing Legends hospitality, albeit socially-distanced-compliant.
The high-speed Silverstone Grand Prix circuit always produces a close fought Pre-War race
– one of the favourites on The Classic’s programme. Race slots at this famous event are always in high demand so we are delighted that the Pre-War Sports Cars have once again been invited to this prestigious meeting.
And Spa-Francorchamps – one of the most fabled tracks in Europe, and another circuit with Pre-War history – should be an essential part of anyone’s calendar and we look forward to making a return to the Ardennes Forest after the cancellation of last year’s edition. Racers who have previously committed to the imposing circuit return year after year to experience this unrivalled venue.
