Motor Racing Legends and Classic Silverstone to Celebrate a Milestone

Motor Racing Legends and Classic Silverstone to Celebrate a Milestone

’60th Anniversary Jaguar E-Type Challenge’
Race Announced for 2021 Event

A major celebration has been announced by Motor Racing Legends and Classic Silverstone to mark the 60th birthday of the Jaguar E-Type in 2021. The ‘60th  Anniversary E-Type Challenge’ is an all-Jaguar E-Type race that will receive headline billing at next summer’s three-day festival.

2021 will see a number of off-track celebrations of this racing icon’s birthday but this dedicated race will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of the forthcoming historic motorsport year. Such was the success of the golden jubilee race in 2011, interest is expected to be high from E-Type racers across the globe. The race will run to a 45-minute format with a mandatory mid-race pit-stop to allow driver change-overs.

The announcement further strengthens Motor Racing Legends association with racing Jaguars particularly in light of the recent appointment by Jaguar Classic for Motor Racing Legends to administer the Jaguar Classic Challenge on their behalf.  The Classic Silverstone race is an addition to the Jaguar Classic Challenge 2021 season schedule.

Nick Wigley, CEO of The Classic’s promoter Goose Live Events and Motor Racing Legends competitor enthused “It will be not only a fitting celebration for one of the most idolised cars of all time but also yet another highlight on the unrivalled line-up of retro races at the world’s biggest classic motor racing festival.”

The race will take place on Saturday afternoon of Classic Silverstone with qualifying on the Friday of the event which is scheduled for Friday 30th, Saturday 31st July and Sunday 1st August, 2021.

Classic Silverstone has always been one of the key events on the Motor Racing Legends racing schedule, since 2005 when we ran our first Pre-War Sports Car grid.  The ‘60th Anniversary E-Type Challenge’ will be one of five Motor Racing Legends series to feature at the 2021 event including the Royal Automobile Club Woodcote Trophy and Stirling Moss Trophy for 1950s Sports Racing Cars, the Royal Automobile Club Historic Tourist Trophy for Pre-’63 GT, the Historic Touring Car Challenge with Tony Dron Trophy and Sixties Touring Car Challenge with U2TC and Motor Racing Legends Pre-War Sports Cars.

All further updates will be published on the Motor Racing Legends website; if you are interested in participating in this race or the Jaguar Classic Challenge, please register your interest by email to Gillian Carr at gillian@motorracinglegends.com
