With much anticipation, the timetable for the 2022 Donington Historic Festival has been published. The traditional start to the Motor Racing Legends season; it features an impressive nine MRL series across the meeting.
On Saturday, the Jaguar Classic Challenge will get the weekend underway with an hour-long battle, followed by the Under 2 Litre Touring Cars of the 1960s for U2TC (’60-’66) and the Sixties Touring Car Challenge (’66-’69). The mesmerising spectacle of Minis, Lotus Cortinas, Alfa Romeo GTAs, and BMW 1800Tis of this era will have their own dedicated 60-minute race – their first stand-alone race since 2019.
The prestigious Royal Automobile Club Woodcote Trophy and Stirling Moss Trophy for pre-’56 and pre-’61 sports cars will headline the afternoon followed by a tantalising Saturday evening of competition showcasing the unique Amon Cup 80-minute mini-enduro for Ford GT40s.
We herald May Day for the second day of the Festival, kicking things off with the ‘Mad Jack’ two-driver, 45-minute race for Pre-War Sports Cars. The Park is then set to roar with the return of the Historic Touring Car Challenge and Tony Dron Trophy where Touring Cars from the 1970s and ‘80s will be battling ‘hammer and tong’ for the first time this season.
And for the Grand Finale, the epic Royal Automobile Club Pall Mall Cup will see a battle royale for our mammoth three-hour enduro featuring GT and Touring Cars of the pre-’66 era and pre-’61 Sports Cars. Which team will be the victor at this, the first of three races this season for the popular series?
Alongside the Motor Racing Legends series will be one of the ‘must-see’ historic spectacles of the year – two races for ‘C1 by Duncan Hamilton, ROFGO’ for original factory Group C cars.
We look forward to seeing you there.
Entries will be open for all Motor Racing Legend series in a matter of weeks and we will notify by Newsletter.
