Algarve Entries Provisional entry lists for our two races at the Algarve Historic Festival, 16-18 October, have now been published. Among the cars entered for the two-hour, two-driver Sir Stirling Moss Trophy race for pre-1961 sports and sports-racing cars are ‘MWS 303’, a genuine Ecurie Ecosse Jaguar D-type to be driven by Dick Skipworth and his son Stephen; Martin Melling’s ex-Works 1952 Aston Martin DB3, a car which ran in the 1952 Le Mans 24 Hours; and – of course – Sir Stirling Moss himself, in his now-familiar Osca FS372.
Meanwhile, among the entries in the Motor Racing Legends Pre-War Sports Car race at the Algarve is Sue Darbyshire’s Morgan Super Aero – likely to amaze Portuguese racing enthusiasts for at least two reasons. First, it’s rare to see a 3-wheeler Morgan competing at this level of historic motor sport; and secondly, it’s a pleasant surprise to see one driven in flat-out competition by a female race driver!
