First-Ever Presentation of the Woodcote Trophy

Woodcote TrophyThe Royal Automobile Club Woodcote Trophy has been awarded to Nigel Webb and Gary Pearson, for an outstanding performance in their D-type Jaguar in this year's Woodcote Trophy races for pre-1956 sports cars.

At a dinner at The Royal Automobile Club's Woodcote Park clubhouse on 8th November, Club Chairman Tim Keown presented the new trophy for the very first time; and it was none other than legendary Jaguar development engineer and driver Norman Dewis who collected it on behalf of the joint winners.

The solid silver Woodcote Trophy, inscribed with the winners' names, will remain on display at The Royal Automobile Club in Pall Mall, London.

Motor Racing Legends launched the new European historic race series this year in response to a demand for longer-distance, two-driver races for genuine sports-racers of the post-War era, up to and including December 1955. Chairman Duncan Wiltshire promises that 2007 will see an ever better spread of races at the best historic festivals across Europe. "We will be returning to both the Silverstone Classic and the Spa Six-Hours meeting, which provided such excellent racing this year, and are considering other European festivals to provide a third – and perhaps a fourth – race.

"We're also delighted to confirm continuing sponsorship from Gregor Fisken, the dealer in fine historic automobiles. Meanwhile, our commitment to strict period specifications and high driving standards, which was so well received by the historic racing fraternity, stays the same."
