The Motor Racing Legends Dinner is our annual celebration of the motoring and motorsport year - renowned for attracting the very best speakers. This year’s Dinner, held on Friday 10th February 2006 at the Royal Automobile Club in Pall Mall, was no exception: our speaker for the evening was David Richards CBE, Chairman and Chief Executive of the Prodrive Group.
Prodrive has, under David Richards, been responsible for six World Rally Championship titles; five British Touring Car Championships; a Le Mans class win with Ferrari; and for taking the BAR Honda F1 team to the runner-up position in the Constructors’ Championship. Prodrive is currently, of course, instrumental in the historic return of Aston Martin to the race track.
David Richards’ speech took the form of a conversational question-and-answer session with our Master of Ceremonies for the evening, Tony Dron. It proved to be a fascinating and hugely enjoyable evening for our 220 guests.
The Dinner also celebrated the start of a significant year for the Automobile Club de L’Ouest, organiser of the Le Mans 24 Hour race, as the Club is commemorating its Centenary in 2006. Motor Racing Legends will, of course, be taking a prominent role in helping the A.C.O. to celebrate this landmark through such activities as our support race at the 24 Hours in June.
