2007 Awards Dinner at Woodcote Park
Motor Racing Legends held its end-of-season Awards Dinner on November 14th, at the Royal Automobile Club’s Woodcote Park clubhouse in Epsom.
The 120 dinner guests included Sir Stirling and Lady Moss, plus a wide cross-section of competitors, owners and participants from both the Woodcote Trophy and the Motor Racing Legends Pre-War Sports Car Series.
The highly prestigious Woodcote Trophy itself was presented by Tim Keown, Vice-President of the Royal Automobile Club, to this year’s winners: Eddie McGuire, Nick Wigley and Mark Hales for their performance in the ex-Fangio Le Mans Gordini T23S.
Also presented at the Dinner was a brand-new trophy, awarded to the overall winners of the Motor Racing Legends Pre-War Sports Car Series: Philip Champion and Steve Stanton, for their drives in the Frazer Nash Super Sports. The trophy was presented by Gregor Fisken, who is a generous supporter of both the Pre-War Series and the Woodcote Trophy as well as being a highly successful competitor himself.
Meanwhile, the Royal Automobile Club Woodcote Trophy class winners for 2007 were as follows:
- Class 1 for drum-braked cars up to 1500cc: Richard Ashmead / Peter Colborne Baber – Lotus IX
- Class 2 for drum-braked cars up to 2 litres: Adrian Van der Kroft / Andrew Cameron – Cooper Bristol T20
- Class 3 for drum-braked cars up to 3 litres: Eddie McGuire / Nick Wigley and Mark Hales – Gordini T23S
- Class 3a for disc-braked cars up to 3 litres: Adrian Hall / Nick Adams – Lotus X
- Class 4 for drum-braked cars over 3 litres: Michael Steele and Barrie Williams – HWM Jaguar
- Class 4a for disc-braked cars over 3 litres: Ben Eastick / Nigel Webb, Neil Cunningham and Grahame Dodd – D-type Jaguar
And the Pre-War Sports Car Series class winners for 2007 were:
- Class 1 for unsupercharged cars up to 1100cc: John Clarke / Leigh Sebba – Morgan 4/4
- Class 2 for unsupercharged cars up to 1500cc or supercharged up to 1100cc: Philip Champion / Steve Stanton – Frazer Nash Super Sports
- Class 3 for unsupercharged cars up to 2000cc or supercharged up to 1500cc: Richard Lake / Jane Varley – Aston Martin Speed Model
- Class 4 for unsupercharged cars up to 3000cc or supercharged up to 2000cc: Gareth Burnett / Luke Stephens – John Ruston’s Alta 2-litre Sports
- Class 5 for unsupercharged cars over 3 litres or supercharged over 2 litres: Peter Neumark / Simon Hope – Alfa Romeo 8c Monza
